Plastic extrusion is a widely used process in various industries such as packaging, automotive, construction and more. The process involves heating and melting plastic and forcing it through a shaped die to create a continuous shape or profile. One of the critical components of the plastic extruder is the single screw extruder barrel.

A single extrusion screw barrel set is the cylindrical-shaped chamber where the plastic is melted and extruded. The barrel is typically made of high-quality steel or other materials that can withstand high temperatures and pressures. The screw inside the barrel rotates and pushes the molten plastic towards the die.

The plastic enters the extruder through the hopper and lands on the feed throat. From here, it gets pushed into the barrel by the rotating screw. The screw has a helical thread that moves the plastic forward, compressing and melting it along the way. The depth and pitch of the thread determine the amount and pressure of the plastic being pushed through the barrel.
